Daily Handwriting Practice, Traditional Manuscript
Daily Handwriting Practice is based on the premise that frequent, focused practice leads to mastery and retention of the handwriting forms practiced. Students practice writing letters, words, and sentences. The content is based on important vocabulary words, language skills, and appropriate curriculum topics. Each book is divided into 36 weekly sections. Focused practice is limited to a half-page Monday through Thursday. Friday's practice is a full page that reviews and practices the letter forms and content of the week. During the final four weeks of practice, students make an alphabet book. A full-page chart showing proper, traditional manuscript letter formation is included. Each letter is introduced and practiced before students are asked to use it. Practice includes the following important vocabulary words: color words, verbs, days of the week, sports, family members, number words - cardinal and ordinal, animal names, months, and position words. Curriculum topics addressed include: nutrition, the layers of the earth, fractions, geometric shapes, energy, the solar system, recycling, the continents, and money. 112 pages.
